Enlarging and painting objects that I find in nature is my way of getting to know the things I love about the world.

I’m drawn to watercolors because they force me to be experimental, knowing the medium prevents too much planning or control. In this way each painting becomes a process of fluid exploration and discovery, like a new adventure beginning as my big wet brush loaded in saturated colors makes the first watery marks on stark white paper.

The work then becomes a personal meditation but is meant to be meditative for the viewer as well. We all have enough agitation in our lives, so my intention is to give life to something intriguing and beautiful and create a sense of calm.
